Empowering our community to

Connect Learn Grow and Cook

FF2F is a registered Community Interest Company (Company Number 13243166)

We are a welcoming and inclusive community market garden within walking distance of Frome town centre, where people can connect with nature and each other, learn agro ecological growing methods, gain healthy vegetarian cooking skills, and access affordable locally grown food.

We are working together with our community to improve access to and support for...

  • Local, ecologically produced and nutritious food at affordable prices
  • Nature focussed wellbeing projects.

Making sure we reach as many people as possible is important to us so we organise public events (like Frome Potato Day and Seed Swap) to celebrate food and growing together, and workshops to spread the wealth of knowledge and skills existing in and around Frome.

Stronger Together
White Circle

Working together with our community is important to us.

We are founding members of the Frome Food Network helping to build awareness of food sustainability and the local food economy in and around Frome.

We worked together with both the Frome Food Network and Green and Healthy Frome to organise our last Pumpkin Day, Harvest Swap and Local Food Festival

We are also founding members of the Nature Prescribing Frome Valley partnership, working together to provide synchronised opportunities, signposting, and progression through organisations, and increase awareness of nature prescribing with the public, within the NHS and Frome Medical Practice.

Connect

Connecting with nature has proven benefits for both our mental and physical health. Our wellbeing sessions provide a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Being on the land has a calming effect on our minds, helping to reduce stress and anxiety.

Connecting with others is also crucial for wellbeing. We are social creatures, and fostering meaningful connections with others helps to give us a sense of belonging, support, and understanding.

Cultivating a connection with food helps us to make more healthy choices and understand where our food comes from, promoting a greater appreciation for the effort and resources involved in its production, and the essential ecosystems that support life.

Learn

Learning through doing, or experiential learning, enhances our understanding as it actively engages us in practical experiences, fostering a deeper grasp of new concepts and skills.

We want to help people to learn more environmentally friendly food growing and vegetarian cooking methods, supporting skills development and understanding of regenerative land management.

Our ‘Growing Skills’ session on Thursdays focused specifically on land management, permaculture, no-dig growing and forest gardening.

We run also workshops at our events and on the land (see below for details)

Grow

Connecting to the land, to our food and to each other helps us to grow as individuals!

We use agro-eceological and regenerative food growing methods such as no-dig growing, permaculture and forest gardening, and have plans to set up a small edible plant nursery.

Wild spaces are extremely important to maintaining the balance in our eco-system, so we allow many natural habitats to thrive, supporting the wildlife and providing wild harvests.

Our ecologically grown produce is sold to local independent food

businesses, freshly delivered for optimum nutrient value and health.

Produce is also available to our volunteers to take home for donations.

Cook

Cooking is a super useful life-skill, a science, an art form and a survival tool. Helping to save us money, build confidence and self esteem, feel more connected to our food, and improve our health.

In our wellbeing sessions we harvest our produce and wild foods from the land, cook nutritious and delicious vegetarian dishes together (outdoors on our rocket stove) and happily take time to eat together too. All the way from the field to the fork!

We love supporting people’s experiements with new veggies, flavours and recipes, both on the land and at home; sometimes people bring food to share that they’ve grown and cooked themselves!

Workshops

We organise workshops with local experts at events to help spread the wealth of knowledge from our community.

Presently we run our own

Forest Gardening Workshops
